British Cucumber Festival

The Great British Cucumber Festival will celebrate the importance of the Lee Valley to the salad industry and British Food generally. It will take place in Waltham Abbey Gardens, Waltham Abbey, Essex on Saturday 17 September from 12 - 4pm.

This celebration of the cucumber (and other salads) is taking place in the heart of the Lee Valley which is the largest area of cucumbers in the UK. The CGA will have a presence at the event informing the public about the great job we are doing and promoting our Great British product including tastings.

Please come along to support this event in general and to help on the CGA stand.
The day has a full programme of events and stands. There will be a lot of local produce showcased along with a celebration of all things Italian (Scillian!).

Two events in which we need grower participation are:
The longest cucumber competition - bring along your longest cucumber and see if you can beat the current world record or at least the local horticultural societies entries.
The 4 x 100m cucumber relay - enter teams of 4 and compete against other growers and packhouses. Of course the baton is replaced with a cucumber but a normal size one this time rather than one of the longest.
